The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Dehradun mayor and BJP leader Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ of using the Smart City work projects for political gains for his party. The AAP averred that new sheds installed in Paltan Bazaar under the Smart City project are painted in saffron colour through which they are attempting to do the politics of dividing people in the name of religion, colour and caste.
This was stated by the AAP media in-charge of Garhwal division Ravindra Singh Anand on Monday. The elections of urban local bodies (ULBs) are due in the State in less than a year and according to Anand, the mayor is promoting the BJP using government schemes like the Smart City project. He said, “The BJP has hatched a conspiracy to paint the sheds installed in Paltan Bazaar saffron which is an example of their shallow mindedness. The government schemes are being misused by the BJP for political gains which is neither legal nor fair. We have two other colours in our national flag and BJP should give them equal respect too.”
The AAP leader said that a mayor has a responsibility to the whole city and should not indulge in such petty and unethical practices to get political benefits. The BJP should rise above its attempts to divide people in the name of religion, colour and caste, said AAP.
