AAP burns government’s effigy for its failure to tackle dengue

Monday, 25 SEPTEMBER 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday burnt the effigy of the State government accusing it of failing to tackle dengue. The party expressed its disappointment over the increasing dengue cases in Dehradun and other parts of the State despite the government and bodies concerned claiming that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent it. The party workers in Dehradun Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) raised slogans against the government and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) while burning their effigies. The State vice president of AAP, Uma Sisodia said that the Dhami government has completely failed in preventing and tackling dengue effectively. Besides this, there is also an atmosphere of chaos in hospitals and blood banks in Dehradun and similar conditions might occur in other parts of the State as well considering how dengue is spreading in the State. AAP leader Yogendra Chauhan alleged that MCD and Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ are just blowing smoke in the name of fogging with public money which appears to be ineffective so far and the government is doing nothing. The AAP leaders said that MCD is doing fogging only for the sake of doing it rather than conducting effective awareness campaigns that can help the public learn what should be done for dengue prevention and what can be done if one gets dengue. Despite knowing the risk of dengue this year, the government failed to take preventive measures since the beginning and now even failing to tackle dengue patients in hospitals that are suffering because of their incompetence, claimed AAP leaders.
