The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stated that over Rs 500 crore has been allegedly spent on the works done under the Smart City project in Dehradun so far but there is still no considerable difference in the city visible to locals. The party has demanded from the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that a probe should be ordered into the work done under the project.

The AAP leader and Garhwal media in-charge Ravindra Singh Anand said that Smart City project is a project worth about Rs 1,537 crore out of which Rs 503 crore has already been spent so far to allegedly complete works under 18 projects. He said that the officials concerned have allegedly shown 18 projects completed under the project but there is no considerable difference in the scenario or functioning of the city. He said that it has been almost six but no smart city project work could be done smoothly by the officials. He said that tube well and sewer line projects are yet to be completed properly and there is allegedly no considerable work going on in the making of the proposed Smart schools with the provision of virtual classes, digital content and biometric attendance among other plans under the smart city project.

The only noticeable thing has been done by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) under the smart city project which is to diminish the beauty of Dehradun’s heritage Clock Tower by installing bathroom tiles around it, added Tyagi. He said that if the CM fails to give directions to investigate the works done under the smart city project, AAP would protest against the government.
