PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday demanded an independent probe into the expenditure incurred on surveys, DPR preparation and consultancy for the proposed Neo Metro project, saying that Rs 80-90 crore of public money had been spent on the process. Led by party mahanagar president Sanjay Kshetri, AAP workers submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Dehradun district magistrate, seeking details of the expenditure and the current status of the project.
The workers staged a dharna at the main gate of the district headquarters after no authorised official arrived to receive the memorandum despite prior information. The city magistrate Rakesh Chand Tiwari later received the memorandum.

Kshetri demanded that the Government make public details of all surveys, DPRs, consultancy payments and other expenditure related to the project. He also sought disclosure of the project’s present status, feasibility and future roadmap.
AAP state president Uma Gaud Sisodia said that crores had been spent on preparations for the Neo Metro project but its status remained unclear. The party demanded an independent inquiry into the expenditure and fixing of responsibility if any irregularities were found. She

said that the party was not opposed to development projects but wanted transparency and accountability in the use of public money.
