Demanding withdrawal of cases on the students the  PCC President Mahara vows to hold protests for seven days

The Uttarakhand Congress has alleged that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers at the behest of the State government entered into the protest of the unemployed youngsters on Thursday to instigate the violence . The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara told the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan on Friday that all this was done to disrupt the peaceful protest and malign the agitation of the unemployed. He said that many video clips and pictures show police personnel carrying the stones and bricks. He said that the police used brutal force on the unemployed who were only demanding that the inquiry should be conducted into the paper leak cases and holding of the examinations should be suspended till the investigation completes. Mahara said that the unemployed youngsters from all parts of the State converged in Dehradun when the police forcefully lifted 16-17 youngsters from Gandhi park on late Wednesday night.

He said that the protest was peaceful till 3.30 pm after which anti social elements at the behest of the government entered the protest. Mahara said that the Congress party is standing shoulder to shoulder with the youngsters. He said that the Congress held a protest on Friday with a demand that all the cases slapped on the unemployed should be withdrawn and the police should disclose the whereabouts of the leader of Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh (UBS) Bobby Panwar. The PCC president said that the Congress party had decided to hold protests for seven days continuously in support of the unemployed. He claimed that the block and district level leaders of the Congress party were asked to sit in the local police stations on Friday morning.

The deputy leader of Congress legislature party (CLP) Bhuwan Kapdi said that from the last six- seven years, the UBS was consistently claiming that the jobs are on sale in Uttarakhand and had used every mode of registering its protest  on the issue. He said that the State government was in slumber and had no idea of the simmering agitation in the youngsters on the paper leak cases. Kapdi said that a case under section 307 has also been slapped on the leader of unemployed Bobby Panwar which is ridiculous and shows the fear of the government.

The vice president Organisation  Mathura Dutt Joshi, the chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
