The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the setting up of the academic credit banks would give a new dimension to higher education in the country.
The minister said that he has directed the higher education department of the state to prepare a working plan as per the new education policy. He said that under the plan academic credit accounts of the students would be opened and the students can store and transfer the academic credits from the syllabuses they are studying. The universities and the autonomous colleges would give degrees, diplomas and certificates based on these credits.
The minister said that the scheme would make the curriculum flexible and would help in inter disciplinary or multidisciplinary academic mobility of the students. He explained further that if a student leaves the studies in between then his studies would not get wasted and if wants to resume his study he can start from where he has left.
