Acharya Balkrishna’s birthday celebrated as Herbs Day

Herbs Day was observed at Patanjali Yogpeeth here  on Tuesday to mark the  birth anniversary of Acharya Balkrishna. Blood donation camp, free health check-up camp and free medicine distribution were held on this occasion. While over 700 people, including Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, donated blood, about 1500 availed the free health camps.     

Addressing the commemorative event, Baba Ramdev said that Yoga, Ayurveda and Swadeshi along with Sanatan way of life are universal, scientific and beneficial for all.  “We are confident that Yoga-Ayurveda-Naturopathy will emerge as a global medical system,” he affirmed. He also hailed the role of the Bharatiya Shiksha Board in erasing the negative influence of the Macaulay-inspired education system.  “We will connect thousands of schools across the country to BSB,” he stated.   

Lauding the contribution of Acharya Balkrishna in espousing the cause of Ayurveda, he claimed that Patanjali Research Foundation has based Yoga-Ayurveda on evidence.  “Patanjali has listed over a thousand herbs. Through conducting cell trials, animal trials and human trials, we have developed research and evidence-based medicines for liver failure and kidney failure among many other diseases,” he said.

Acharya Balkrishna, in his address, said that celebrating a birthday means a day to take a pledge.  “We have been celebrating this day as Herbs Day for the last three decades,” he added.On this occasion, 12 drugs were launched by Patanjali Research Institute. While launching the newly developed medicines, Acharya Balkrishna said that they would serve the people across the world, particularly the children.
