ACS orders Vigilance to form specialised committee for investigating corruption charges

The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi has directed the Vigilance department to form a specialised committee to investigate corruption charges and other important sensitive cases. She also directed the Vigilance to regularly inform the Department of Personnel and the chief minister’s office about the departments with corruption complaints. She stated this in a review meeting of the Vigilance department in the secretariat on Tuesday. She asked officials to analyse department-wise complaints related to corruption received on toll-free number 1064 and inform about it regularly to the Department of Personnel and CMO. The department will ensure effective action to improve the work culture of the departments concerned. The ACS also directed the Vigilance department to form a specialised committee to investigate corruption and other important sensitive cases which will have all the technical experts related to the case. This will help the investigation of the cases and their disposal in a timely manner. Besides this, Raturi also instructed the department to organise a workshop regarding the Prevention of Corruption Act for the personnel in the Uttarakhand secretariat. She instructed officials to organise regular meetings under the supervision of the Home department for exchange of information and effective coordination among various investigating agencies of the State. The Vigilance department officials informed Raturi in the meeting that a total of 252 traps have taken place in the State since its formation and so far, culprits have been convicted in 59 cases. This year, Vigilance has reportedly received a total of 176 complaints from toll-free number 1064 in the Dehradun sector and 118 complaints in the Haldwani sector. Out of these, 143 complaints were disposed of in the Dehradun sector and 82 complaints in the Haldwani sector, as per the officials. According to them, there are a total of nine pending investigations in the Dehradun sector and four in the Haldwani sector this year besides 16 pending open investigations in both sectors.
