ACS reviews administrative preparation to combat cold wave

In latest news from Dehradun, the additional chief secretary Radha Raturi chaired a meeting convened to review arrangements made by the administration in view of the cold spell continuing in several parts of the State. She at the same time directed the officers concerned to ensure that the registration of the trekking agencies and companies operating in the State are done. She said that registration is imperative for ensuring safety of the trekkers coming to the State in large numbers. Moreover, she asked for formulation of trekking-related standard operating procedure (SOP) and stressed on interdepartmental coordination and coordination with the administration. She made it clear that in case anything happens to trekkers due to the non-enforcement of the trekking SOP, the forest department would be held accountable and actions would follow. Further, she directed the labour department officers to provide cold-related relief to the labourers engaged in construction activities.
