The State secretary of CPI-ML, Indresh Maikhuri has demanded stern action against those responsible for injuring the policemen in Uttarkashi and engaging in vandalism in the city.
He claimed that some communal elements targeted the place of worship of a minority community and pelted stones on the police. Maikhuri said that punitive action should be initiated against such communal elements. Terming the role played by the district administration as suspicious, Maikhuri alleged that permission was granted to take out a rally even when it was clear that their target was the mosque. He claimed that false and misleading information was given in the case, which provided a tool to the communal elements. The CPI-ML leader said that no action was taken by the district magistrate of Uttarkashi against the public information officer (PIO) who gave misleading information.
He claimed that the BJP government is patronising the communal hatred prevalent in the State including Uttarkashi. Maikhuri appealed to the people of Uttarkashi to maintain peace, brotherhood and harmony and added that the objective of the communal elements is to serve their petty political interests. He said that the people should not fall prey to the designs of such elements and oppose them vehemently.
