District Magistrates handed over the list of such doctors for confiscation of asset action
Acting tough on the absconding bonded medical officers of state health services, the state administration has started the process of attachment of their assets. There are 320 such doctors who had entered into a bond to serve the state health service but backed off from the contract. As per the provisions of the contract these doctors were asked to deposit Rs 30 lakh each. Following the order more than 100 doctors deposited Rs 30 lakh to the government treasury. However 320 doctors have not paid the aforesaid money therefore the administration has started the process of attachment of their assets. The confiscation process would be completed by the District Magistrate (DM) of the district to which the absconding doctor belongs. It is learnt that the District Magistrates (DM) have been provided the list of such doctors for necessary action. The bonded medical officers are those young medicos who at the time of admission in the medical colleges enter into a bond with the state government that they would serve in the health department of state after completion of their education. In lieu of this bond they have to pay highly subsidised fees during the period of their stay in the medical colleges. However instead of fulfilling the conditions mentioned in the bond and joining the place of their appointment many medicos absconded from their duties forcing the government to take action on them.
