Action on illegal encroachments to continue in Uttarakhand: Dhami

 Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that action against illegal encroachments and Madarsas will continue till the State is freed of the encroachments. Highlighting the achievements of his government on the eve of completion of three years of his second stint as CM on Saturday, Dhami said that demographic change is a major challenge for the State.

Interacting with mediapersons at his residence, the CM said that his government enacted a stringent anti- religious conversion law to deal with this challenge. He averred that the action against land, love and spit Jihad will continue but added that the government is not against any specific section of the society or community. Uttarakhand is the land where everyone lives in peace, harmony and love, he said.

 The CM said that the people of Uttarakhand broke the convention of change of government after every five years in the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2022 and re-elected the BJP. He said that in the last three years the State faced challenges of natural disaster in Raini, Kedarnath, Silkyara tunnel collapse, Kedarnath and Ghansali with the Mana avalanche case being the most recent. He said that precious lives were saved in these disasters by prompt action of the government. “I always try to remain present on ground and be among the people during such disasters,’’ he said.

 Dhami said that the government organised global investment summit-2023 in which memorandums of understanding worth Rs 3.55 lakh crore were inked and till date projects worth Rs 80,000 crore have been grounded. In an attempt for ease of doing business, the State government on the advice of the representatives of industry has drafted 30 new policies and revised many other policies. The State government is also repealing old and redundant laws, he added.

 The CM claimed that he has directed every department to work on three-four game changing schemes so that the State progresses and moves forward as per the 2047 vision of Viksit Bharat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dhami said that Uttarakhand created history on January 27, 2025 by becoming the first State in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).  He said that the anti-copying act has made the recruitment process fair and transparent in the State and it has become an example for other States. In the last three years more than 20,000 youngsters have been given jobs in different departments of State government. Dhami said that after the Vanbhoolpura violence the State government introduced the anti-riot law in order to deal with the rioters with an iron hand. The CM said that in this year’s budget session, the State government tabled the much anticipated land laws in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the State. Dhami said that the State government has provided 30 per cent reservation in government jobs to the women of the State and is working on the Lakhpati Didi project. He said  that 10 per cent horizontal reservation has been provided to statehood activists in government jobs. The House of Himalayas brand is attracting global attention due purity of products and attractive packaging.

DEHRADUN : Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the winter Char Dham Yatra will prove to be a game changer for the economy of Uttarakhand. He said that the winter Yatra will ensure that the pilgrims arrive in the State in all the seasons and for the entire year. He said that the government is making plans for a hassle free Char Dham Yatra this year. The CM said that the Harshil- Mukhwa visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a boost to religious tourism in the area.
