The Bhoo Kanoon Samanvay Samiti (BKSS) and other organisations plan to stage a protest in the summer capital Gairsain on Sunday in support of the demands on the subject of domicile cut-off date, land laws and making Gairsain the permanent State capital.
The protestors will take out a rally from the main market in Gairsain to the Ramlila ground of the city. Leaders of Congress, UKD and other political outfits will also participate in the rally.
The convenor of the BKSS, Mohit Dimri said that the general public has taken the lead in the agitation to preserve the identity, culture and resources of the State. He alleged that some divisive forces are trying to create confusion in the general public in order to weaken the movement. Dimri said that the population of outsiders in Uttarakhand has jumped to more than 40 lakh and they have captured the resources, jobs and employment opportunities here.
In the last one month, the coordination committee has met the various Vyapar Mandals, Mahila Mangal Dals, statehood activists, organisations of ex -servicemen and social organisations to make the Gairsain rally a success.
The BKSS had organised a massive rally in Dehradun on December 24 on the demands of robust land laws, 26 January 1950 as the cut off date for issue of domicile certificates and making Gairsain the permanent capital of the State.
The former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal who will also participate in the rally at Gairsain, said that the people of the State want Gairsain to be the permanent State capital and there is a general consensus in the people for effective land laws.
