Additional water being released from Tehri reservoir to ensure ample water for Prayagraj Kumbh: Maharaj

Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj has said that additional water is being released from the Tehri dam reservoir to ensure adequate water in the Ganga river for the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Talking to UP’s Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Maharaj assured that ample water is being released from the Tehri reservoir. He informed at the water level of the reservoir is currently about 809 metres. After raising the water level from 828 metres to 830 metres, there was an 83 million cubic metres increase in the water. The Irrigation minister further said that following the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, 150 cumecs clean water is being released from the Tehri dam reservoir to ensure adequate water for the ceremonial Snans at the Prayagraj Kumbh.
