ADM directs removal of electric poles after underground cables installation

The additional district magistrate (ADM) and additional executive officer of Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) KK Mishra has directed the officials concerned to remove all electric poles from the Paltan Bazaar area after the installation of feeder pillars and shifting of all power cables underground. The ADM held a meeting with the officials of various departments to review the progress of ongoing work in Paltan Bazaar and Parade Ground under the smart city project on Thursday. The officials informed Mishra that they have installed 25 feeder pillars between Clock Tower and Kotwali area and electricity connections will be distributed to consumers in the next two weeks too. Mishra asked the officials to speed up the work and directed them to remove all electric poles as soon as power cables are shifted underground. Some officials also said in the meeting to remove some proposed works from the project as it may receive some backlash from the local businessmen. According to them, some of the proposed works like garden kiosk, golf cart, electric charging station, benches installation and plantation work are not possible to carry out in Paltan Bazaar between Clock Tower and Kotwali and these projects may also face opposition from the local businessmen. They also recommended finding suitable locations for the installation of modular toilets. They said that if necessary, the previously constructed toilets can also be modified and repaired as per rules and after getting approval from the Smart City Board. Officers and representatives of DSCL, Public Works Department (PWD), Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) and associated contractor firms were also present in the meeting.
