Admin alert with tourists’ surge across Uttarkashi
PNS/ UTTARKASHI
With the number of New Year tourists at Kedarkantha, Harshil and Dayara surging, the Uttarakashi district magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht instructed the officers concerned to keep snowcat vehicles and blowers ready in the Harshil area, in particular. He also asked all departments to take prompt action to ensure that the tourists are not inconvenienced due to the harsh winter. As per the tourism department, while nearly 3,000 people are visiting the tourist places like Harshil, Dayara and Sankri in the district on an average daily, over 5,000 tourists have stayed at homestays and hotels in the first three days of the new year.
The police have also made special arrangements. Teams of SDRF and police along with quick response squads- equipped with satellite phones, walkie-talkies, snow chains and searchlights- have been sent to the tourist-packed Kedarkantha, Harshil and Dayara areas.
