Administration gears up for Home Minister Shah’s arrival

The Dehradun district administration is gearing up for Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrival in the State who is scheduled to arrive on October 7. Shah will be attending the meeting of Central Regional Council in Tehri’s Narendranagar which will be held on Saturday. He will first arrive in Dehradun and then is expected to join the meeting in Narendranagar.

The Dehradun district magistrate Sonika held a meeting regarding his visit with various departments on Wednesday including the Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), police and Peyjal Nigam among others. She directed all the officials concerned to complete all necessary arrangements at their level soon. She also directed the officials of PWD, MCD, MDDA, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) among others to complete their ongoing works soon to ensure smooth traffic on roads.

She also instructed the police department to ensure strict traffic and security arrangements during Shah’s visit to the district. She also directed to removal of all kinds of encroachments on roads including construction materials lying on roads causing traffic woes for commuters. She also directed officials concerned to maintain an uninterrupted supply of electricity and drinking water at the programme sites which are expected to be joined by Shah. The DM directed the officials to deploy officers to ensure damage-free roads and asked them to inspect their allotted sites regularly for better and quicker arrangements. 

Besides this, she also ordered to carry out cleanliness work from Dehradun Airport to the district’s border in the area. She also instructed MDDA and UPCL to cut bushes from the roads and to fix the dangling electrical wires on the roads respectively. She also instructed the chief medical officer to deploy doctors and ambulances at the airport and programme sites in the district. Sonika asked the officials to carry out their respective duties diligently while adding that no negligence will be tolerated by the administration.
