Administration gears up for the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission

As the State government is planning to develop ancient Jageshwar Temple, Adi Kailash, Gunji in Almora and Pithoragarh districts and other temples of Kumaon region on the lines of Char Dham shrines in Garhwal division, the Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat said that no tampering will be done with the infrastructure of the temples under proposed Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission. The officials informed that the infrastructure development plan has been finalised by the consultancy company after taking suggestions from the temple committees, local people, experts and respective district administrations in preparing the master plan and detailed project reports (DPRs) of ancient temples of Jageshwar and Adi Kailash. The company held a meeting on Wednesday to conduct a detailed discussion about the proposals before the commissioner through a presentation regarding the master plan of the temples. Rawat said in the meeting that no tampering will be done with the authentic infrastructure of the temples. He said that only necessary works including parking facility, approach road, drinking water, electricity, toilet, community hall, Prasad and Bhandara Greh will be done in about one to two kilometres of the periphery of the temple premises. He said that the entrance of Jageshwar temple will be made in Himalayan architectural style. Besides this, the buildings of the local people residing near the parking shelter in the Dandeshwar temple complex will also be developed in the same architectural style. He said that along with the beautification of the archaeological museum and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) Guest House, the Jadh Ganga river will also be beautified and the bridge, check dam and Ghats will also be constructed accordingly. The administration has prepared a DPR worth about Rs 150 crore for these works, said Rawat. The administration has also prepared a DPR of Rs 12.87 crore in the first phase to carry out construction works like Nandi Dwar in Adi Kailash, Gunji along with homestays, restaurants, parking arrangements and night stay arrangements for about 60 people. The commissioner said that after the completion of the project, State tourism will get a new boost from people visiting from the country and abroad. This will also provide employment to several people in both districts.
