Admission process begins in polytechnic colleges of Uttarakhand

The admission process for the 2026-27 academic session began at government and private polytechnic colleges across the state on Friday under the department of Technical Education. The department has requested online applications from students interested in various courses. The deadline for applications is May 15. The department has also offered lateral entry for students with a polytechnic diploma to enter the second year of B Tech courses directly.

Commenting on the start of the admission process, the Technical Education minister, Dhan Singh Rawat said that to enable more youth of the state to pursue technical education, the admission process has been started in Polytechnic colleges. “All students are requested to apply online through the departmental website within the stipulated time period and participate in the joint entrance examination for Polytechnic,” he said, adding that the government is striving to ensure that every youth becomes technically competent and plays an active role in building a self-reliant Uttarakhand. 

The joint director of the Technical Education department, Mukesh Pandey said that under the ‘Polytechnic Chalo Abhiyan-2026,’ admission process is being conducted with the aim of connecting youth with technical education. “Under this, opportunities for admission to various technical courses are being made available in all government and private polytechnic institutes of the state, so that interested students can participate in the Joint Entrance Examination (Polytechnic) by applying online on the department’s official website www.ubterjeep.co.in by the deadline of May 15,” he added. .

The department officials further said that, as every year, candidates have access to 40 diploma-level, employment-oriented courses.

They added that there are a total of 71 government, one aided and 85 private polytechnic institutions in the state, which offer 30 per cent reservation for female students in each category. Furthermore, most government and aided polytechnic colleges offer female hostels. The officials further stated that job fairs are organised annually for students graduating from polytechnic institutions so that students can obtain attractive salaries in prestigious industries according to their qualifications.
