Adopt innovative methods in drone sector: CS Sandhu

The chief secretary SS Sandhu has said that publicity to the drone policy of Uttarakhand should be given to attract investment in the drone sector. He chaired a meeting of the officers on the drone policy at the State secretariat on Tuesday.
The CS said that innovative methods should be adopted in the drone sector and for this agreement with the institutes of technology should be done. The CS said Uttarakhand is the most helicopter friendly State in the country. He said that on one hand there are many benefits of Helicopter services and on the other there are many prohibited areas for drones in view of the accident chances.
The CS suggested that focus on zero risk area should be made for the drone corridor. He said coordination with the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) and Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) should be done in view of many high and low tension power lines of these corporations.
The CS said that apart from increasing investment in the drone sector there is a need to provide training and generate employment opportunities in the sector. He suggested that the courses on drone technology should start in both private and government universities. Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, ITDA director Vineet Kumar, inspector general Rajiv Swarup and others were present in the meeting.
