Advance reservation period reduced to 60 days

PNS/ DEHRADUN

In a significant change in the ticketing policy, the Indian Railways has enforced a new rule from November 1, changing the advance reservation period (ARP) from 120 days to 60 days. However, those who had booked reserved seats availing the old rule till October 31 will be allowed to travel. Besides, this change will not apply to trains like Taj Express and Gomti Express which run during the day time. Further, the ARP for foreign tourists which is 365 days will remain unchanged.

Speaking of the new ARP, a senior Railway officer said that only 13 per cent of the travellers used to book reservation four months before the travel date.
