Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi-two BJP stalwarts who played monumental role in the Ram Janambhoomi movement that ended up in the demolition of the Babri structure-will not participate in the inauguration of the Ram Mandir slated to be led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22 next year. While addressing a media conference in Ayodhya, the general secretary, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Champat Rai said that they had urged the two veterans not to attend the inauguration, given their age and the cold climate. He further said that the two leaders had agreed. According to Rai, Joshi kept on insisting that he would attend the temple inauguration ceremony despite his health and cold, but he had somehow convinced him that he should not come. Rai also referred to the former chief minister Kalyan Singh who had also played an instrumental role in the Ram Mandir movement, saying that he had requested the veteran leader to not attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram Mandir on August 5 2020.
