With the long-awaited Ram Mandir having become a reality, the Central government has decided to confer the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on Lal Krishna Advani under whose stewardship Ram Mandir movement hogged the national limelight and changed India’s political/cultural discourse. This was announced by none less than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. He said he had spoken to him and congratulated him, adding that Advani deserved this award being considered as one of the most respected political leaders who had engineered massive development and cultural revival of the country. “This is an emotional moment for me as I am privileged to be enriched by his erudition, experience and commitment to the nation’s cause,” he added.
