An Afghan woman has accused a man who reportedly holds dual citizenship of Afghanistan and Turkiye, of drugging and raping her at a hotel in Roorkee. The duo reportedly spent Wednesday night together in a room at the hotel and the woman levelled the allegation on Thursday. The police have taken the man into custody and are investigating the case while the woman was sent for medical examination.
According to official sources, the alleged incident took place in a hotel on Dehradun Road in the Gangnahar Kotwali area of Roorkee. The woman reportedly dialled 112 on Thursday alleging rape. The police responded and reached the hotel where they questioned the woman and took the man into custody.
The woman stated that she was a citizen of Afghanistan and alleged that the man with her drugged her and then raped her. On being questioned, the accused said that he is a asafoetida (Heeng) trader who holds dual citizenship of Afghanistan and Turkiye. The forensics team also reached the hotel to collect evidence.
Gangnahar Kotwali in-charge RK Saklani said that the woman had been sent for a medical examination. The complaint is being investigated. A case will be lodged and further action will be taken after preliminary questioning and investigation, he said.
If sources are to be believed, the woman booked the hotel room on Wednesday afternoon and the man arrived within a couple of hours. The two spent the night together and even had their meals in the room. The woman then dialled 112 on Thursday afternoon accusing the man of rape.
