Agarwal inaugurates 5-day Tehri Acro Fest

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the State finance, urban development and housing minister Prem Chand Agarwal inaugurated the five-day Tehri Acro Festival being hosted by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board in Koti Colony in Tehri Garhwal. In his inaugural address, Agarwal said that the Tehri Lake- endowed with immense potential for water sports and adventure sports- is taking its place in the world tourism map and added that 130 pilots from 28 States, including India, are participating in the competition. The minister said that 43 trainees have been imparted training in paragliding categories from P-1 to P-4. Aside from the sports competition, cultural programmes are also lined up as part of the celebration of this festival, he said and added that such international festivals will not just boost tourism prospects but will open new avenues of employment generation for the locals. The State forest and technical education minister Subodh Uniyal who was also present during the inauguration of the festival said that this marked a good beginning of tourism boom in this region, adding that paragliding activities are bound to beckon and bring adventure sports- loving tourists from across the world. Notably, the paragliders are taking off from the starting point in Pratap Nagar and landing in Koti Colony.
