Agri drone campaign launched in Dehradun district

The Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC) director M Madhu inaugurated the agri drone campaign at the institute’s research farm in Selaqui on Monday. Officials said that intensive drone demonstrations will be conducted in Doiwala, Dhakrani and Nathuwala areas of Dehradun district till March 22 as part of this campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhu informed the farmers about the application of drone technology in spraying on crops, fruit plants and forestry plants. He also motivated the young farmers about drone-related schemes and drone pilot training for their livelihood. The institute director also distributed fertilisers to the participating farmers under the agri drone project.
Principal investigator of the agri drone project, M Shankar provided information to the farmers about the benefits of agri drone spray such as savings of time, water and labour in addition to being safe from health issues. Farmer Bhagat Ram also shared his views regarding the use of agricultural drones in his fields. Institute officials informed that under this campaign, 50 agri drone demonstrations will be conducted in various villages of Dehradun district over five days. As part of this, 10 demonstrations were conducted among farmers in six villages in the Vikasnagar area benefitting about 50 farmers on Monday.
