The former vice-chancellor of the GBP University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) and presently the chancellor of Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar P L Gautam was presentec with Dr A B Joshi Memorial Lecture Award by the Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh who is also GBPUAT’s chancellor and the director general of Indian Council of Agricultural Research Himanshu Pathak for his outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture at the 17th Agriculture Science Congress hosted by GBPUAT.
Gautam delivered a special lecture on bio-diversification in agriculture which focused on raising the income of farmers through bio-diversification. He said that there is a need to develop sustainable agricultural practices which not only increase productivity but can also conserve natural resources. He appealed to the scientific community to focus on water resilience, water conservation and soil health management as priority areas.
