AI should be used in forest conservation: President Murmu

In latest news from Dehradun, President Droupadi Murmu while addressing the convocation ceremony of the Indian Forest Service probationers of the 54th RR (2022-24 training course) of the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy here on Wednesday as the chief guest said that the two wheels of development being tradition and modernity, artificial intelligence (AI) should be used in the conservation of forests. She further said warningly that mankind can ignore the importance of forest to its own peril. While 99 Indian Forest Service probationers of the session 2022-24 passed out of the ceremony, two officer trainees from neighbouring Bhutan also passed out in the same organised on the campus of Forest Research Institute (FRI).
Earlier in his address, the Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Rtd) said that the Himalayan State being blessed with bastion of herbs, the would-be forest officers now passing out must build partnership and dialogue with the local communities to effectively combat menaces like forest fire. Such disasters could be confronted by a blend of technical expertise and collective commitment to the cause of conservation, he added.
