Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Artificial Intelligence will enable important developments in ecology, economy, technology, accountability and sustainable development. All experts and those discharging various responsibilities will also have to learn about AI, he said while speaking at a conclave on AI for Uttarakhand organised by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) here on Monday.
The CM said that a roadmap has been prepared in Uttarakhand for AI development along with science, technology and innovation policy. Stating that AI affects all aspects of human life, Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lays special focus on science, technology and AI. “Many things are being achieved with the use of AI which has also helped save time. It has brought about revolutionary changes in scientific research and the routine lives of people. Apart from becoming a major reason for innovation in industry, medical treatment, agriculture, education, health and science, it can also play a major role in the development and prosperity of the State,” the CM said.
He further said that effective work can be done with the help of AI in the spheres of disaster management and climate change in Uttarakhand.
The UCOST director general Durgesh Pant said that this is the era of AI. “Apart from being Devbhumi, Uttarakhand is also the land of spiritual, scientific solutions where various prominent central institutions are located. We are moving ahead towards becoming a knowledge State as this will help Uttarakhand become empowered and prosperous,” he said. Pant also stressed on the need for using the potential of AI in agriculture, tourism, good governance, livelihood, health and other sectors to boost the State’s development.
