AICC spokesperson Lamba lambasts Modi govt for price rise, unemployment

Tuesday, 30 August 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Says that the Congress party would abolish the ‘Agniveer scheme’ when in power

The spokesperson of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Alka Lamba has said that the Congress party would defuse the bombs of price rise and unemployment unleashed by the BJP on the general public. Addressing media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Monday, she said that the graph of price rise and unemployment has increased ever since the BJP government came to power in centre and these two ( rising prices and unemployment) are the two brothers of the BJP. The interaction of Lamba was part of countrywide press conferences organised by the Congress party on these issues. Presenting a comparative account, the Congress spokesperson said that the LPG gas cylinder which was of Rs 410 when Congress was in power is now at Rs 1053, a jump of 156 per cent. Similarly the price of petrol has witnessed an increase of 40 per cent (from Rs 71 to Rs 95-112) while diesel has increased by 75 per cent (from Rs 55 to Rs 90-100) and mustard oil by 112 per cent. Giving further details Lamba said that a whopping 81 per cent increase has occurred in wheat flour and milk has increased by 71 per cent. Launching an attack on the BJP and Prime Minister, the AICC spokesperson said that the data shows the failure of the government and that PM Modi has not only failed to control prices but his flawed policies have added to the woes of the people. She reminded that the PM during the run up for the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 had boasted that essential items such as food grain, curd and buttermilk are kept out of GST but in 2022 he imposed GST on these very items. She claimed that more than 4.13 crore consumers under the much hyped Ujjwala scheme have not refilled their cooking gas cylinders due to removal of subsidy. Lamba alleged that PM Modi has tricked the poor by not passing on the benefit of the reducing prices of the crude and the cooking gas in the international markets in recent times. She said that the Modi government is on a selling spree of the public sector undertakings and in this process he is benefitting a select group of businessmen.

Lamba said that when in power the Congress party would abolish the ‘Agniveer scheme’ of recruitment in armed forces and would start the old system of recruitment.

She appealed to the Congressmen to attend the ‘ Halla Bol’ rally in Ramlila ground on September 4 in large numbers.

The Vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi, media in charge of Halla Bol rally P K Agarwal, Garima Dasauni, Navin Joshi, Laxmi Agarwal, Amarjeet Singh and others were present on the occasion.
