AIIMS Rishikesh raises awareness on urological cancer

The Urology department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh held a programme on Saturday to raise awareness on urological cancer. During the programme, the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh emphasised the need for awareness on urological cancer symptoms and timely treatment. He urged various voluntary organisations and doctors to initiate a massive campaign for urological cancer awareness, stressing that prevention is crucial. Singh also released a book in Hindi and English by the Urology department to inform the public about urological cancer and a helpline number was also launched. Further, the head of the Urology department Dr Ankur Mittal provided information about the symptoms, treatment and precautions for urological cancer. He said that the department has conducted over 500 successful robotic surgeries related to urological diseases. Other doctors shared their experiences of the health benefits during and after robotic surgeries for the disease.
