AIIMS-Rishikesh to deploy docs at Kumbh

The trauma centre of the institute would be kept ready to deal with the emergency situation during the fair.

A team of doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh would be deployed to provide medical facilities to the pilgrims at Kumbh Mela in Haridwar. The trauma centre of the premier institute would be kept ready to deal with the emergency situation during the fair.

The Director of the AIIMS- Rishikesh Dr Ravikant said that special arrangements have been made to provide medical facilities to the pilgrims in the Kumbh.  “The AIIMS Hospital administration has decided to deploy special teams of doctors during the fair. Teams of doctors will be posted in the Kumbh Mela Hospital at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar. In case of any untoward incident, the doctors will get first aid on the spot by teams of doctors and they will be sent to the trauma centre of the institute by a Green Corridor so that they can be treated appropriately at the trauma centre,’’ he said.

The Dean Hospital administration, Dr U B Mishra said that an ICU of 12 bed has been prepared in the trauma centre of AIIMS. He further informed that a special ward has been set up in the trauma centre to deal with any type of emergency. In this ward 22 beds would be kept in reserve for the treatment of pilgrims of Kumbh. Dr Mishra said that team of doctors and nursing staff have been specially constituted for the Kumbh.
