The All India Sikh Conference (Babbar) has issued a statement saying that Sikhs under its banner will reach Har Ki Paidi in Haridwar on April 13 to reclaim Gurudwara Gyan Godri. The AISC (Babbar) chief Gurcharan Singh Babbar appealed in the statement on Tuesday to the Sikh community, leaders of Akali Dals and various Gurudwara committees of different States to unite on the occasion of Baisakhi on Thursday to get the possession of the Gurudwara. He also appealed to the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the director general of police Ashok Kumar to not unnecessarily harass the Sikh Sangat slated to arrive at Har Ki Paidi on Thursday. He asked the CM to instruct all senior police officials to not register “false cases” against the Sangat or make any effort to intimidate them or put them in jail as it will not be in the interest of the nation. He also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Uttarakhand government to contribute towards facilitating the repossession of the Gurudwara. Babbar also appealed to the Khalistani fugitive Amritpal Singh to also arrive at Har Ki Paidi on the occasion of Baisakhi and surrender to the authorities. Addressing Amritpal in his statement, Babbar said that Sikhs across the country including Punjab, Khalsa Panth, Singh Sahab of Shri Akal Takht Sahib and Giani Harpreet Singh want this which will also give him an opportunity to present his side in front of the whole nation. The additional director general of police (Law and Order) V Murugesan told The Pioneer that the Haridwar district police have been directed to take measures to maintain law and order in the area on the arrival of Sikh activists on the occasion of Baisakhi.
