In latest news from Uttarakhand, the weekly Lalkuan-Amritsar Express (15016) was flagged off by the Union minister of state for defence and tourism Ajay Bhatt from Lalkuan station. This train connects Udham Singh Nagar district- labelled as ‘Mini Punjab’-with Punjab itself and the people are happy with the launching of the new train as it would make it easier for them to reach Amritsar on their way to the revered Golden Temple. Launching the new train, Bhatt expressed gratitude to the Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the launching of Tanakpur-Dehradun and Amritsar-Lalkuan trains. He said that Delhi-Kathgodam Vande Bharat Express would start operation soon and decks are being cleared for another Vande Bharat train connecting Dehradun, Ayodhya and Delhi.
