Alert issued- heavy rain likely in various parts of State today

Even as light to moderate rain was witnessed in various parts of the State on Thursday, the State meteorological centre has issued a red warning (Take Action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Kumaon region on Friday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in districts of the Kumaon region today. An orange alert (Be Prepared) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Haridwar districts on Friday. A yellow alert (Watch) has also been issued by the meteorological centre regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur with the possibility of one or two spells being intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Thursday with 41.1 millimetres in Dehradun, 44.5 millimetres in Maldevta, 30 millimetres in Pauri, 25 millimetres in Bhagwanpur, 12.5 millimetres in Raiwala and 9.5 millimetres in Kanalichhina. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State were 32 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.1 degrees Celsius and 25.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.5 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.5 degrees Celsius and 18.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
