Alert- thunderstorms, hail & squalls likely in State today

With rain bringing much needed relief from forest fires and rising summer heat in various parts of the State, more is forecast for the State on Saturday. The State meteorological has issued an orange warning (Alert)
regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty wind are likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today. Further, squalls (60-70 kmph, maximum upto 80 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts and squalls (50-60 kmph, maximum upto 70 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State. The meteorological centre also forecast that
light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of the State on Saturday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Light rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places in the State on Friday were 34.2 degrees Celsius and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.5 degrees Celsius and 25.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.4 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.5 degrees Celsius and 14.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.Light rain was reported in various places with 14 millimetres in Naugaon, 13 millimetres in Mori, three millimetres in Mukteshwar and two millimetres each in Badkot and Bajpur.
