In order to enhance the sporting skill of girls, a sports college for girls will soon come up in Champawat with the transfer of land being recently completed, said the State sports minister Rekha Arya on Wednesday. “Acting on the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s earlier announcement of building the first girls’ sports college in Lohaghat, we have cleared the decks by having the land transfer process completed,” she said and added that the upcoming sports college would be residential which would provide all facilities required for honing sporting talents in girls. “We are committed to providing state of the art facilities to the girls aspiring for achievements in the domain of sports. They will be provided with balanced food, accommodation, sports kits, college uniforms, textbooks, writing equipment, a library and medical aid, free of cost,” the minister said.
Arya further said that the State government has been going the whole hog to promote sporting talent in the girls. “We will never be found wanting as far as enhancing the State’s ascendency in sports is concerned,” she added.
