Alleged prostitution offer turns violent, 3 injured

An alleged prostitution offer first sparked an altercation and then turned into a group clash near Paltan Bazar in Dehradun, leaving three men injured. As per an FIR filed by one Rohit Kumar on Thursday, his brother Praveen Kumar and their friends Gurusevak and Qadir were attacked and robbed by a group of people. Praveen and Qadir were admitted to a hospital and kept under observation.

The FIR further stated that Praveen and his friends had gone to a restaurant on Thursday night and were returning home when two girls approached them. The complainant alleged that one of the girls, identified as Pooja, had offered prostitution services and demanded Rs 2,500. The three men had refused the offer, the complaint stated, adding that it was then that two men-Aashish and Ranjeet- had emerged from a taxi and asked the three to pay the money and go to a hotel with them. 

When Praveen and his friends threatened to inform the police, Aashish and Ranjeet had snatched the mobile phones of Praveen and Qadir, Rohit said in the  complaint. Soon after, several people arrived in a car and on a scooty and beat the three men, the allegation ran. 

Rohit alleged that a gold chain and a mobile phone had been snatched from Praveen, while Rs 12,000 and a mobile phone had been taken away from Qadir. Besides, the trio suffered serious injuries during the assault, Rohit alleged.

The complainant named several people in the FIR, alleging that some of them had previous criminal cases.
