In latest news from Uttarakhand, an alumni meet was held in Kumaun University on the initiative of the vice chancellor Prof Diwan Singh Rawat. While the acting VC Santosh Kumar presided over the meet the former secretary, Union Ministry of Forest and Environment Hem Pandey, an alumnus, was the chief guest.
Pandey said that the institute’s alumni cell should not just provide constructive support in taking the university forward in the arena of academic excellence but work to improve the quality of common man’s lives. An IFS officer Lalit Belwal, who is also an alumnus, addressed the meet and said that it was thanks to the education he had received at his alma mater that he has become an IFS.
