Amarnath Namboodari assumes Rawal’s responsibilities in Badrinath

The Nayab Rawal of Badrinath temple, Amarnath Namboodari formally assumed charge as the temple’s Rawal (chief priest) on Sunday. The previous Rawal Isvari Prasad Namboodari who had sought premature retirement due to health reasons, was given a farewell by the temple committee and locals.

 The rituals for the new Rawal to assume his duties began on Sunday morning with him ceremoniously undertaking Panchteerth Snan and having a darshan of Panch Shila near the temple. He bathed in the Taptkund, Alaknanda river, Rishiganga, Kurmudhara, Prahlad Dhara and Narad Kund in addition to having a darshan of the Panch Shila- Narad Shila, Narsinh Shila, Varah Shila, Garud Shila and Markandeya Shila.

The outgoing Rawal Isvari Prasad Namboodari conducted the Abhishek Puja in the morning and then offered the last Bal Bhog in his tenure to the lord after 7:30 AM. After this, the new Rawal Amarnath Namboodari entered the Garbh Grah of the temple for the first time to conduct ritual worship of the lord.
