In latest news from Uttarakhand, with Badrinath Dham’s chief priest known as rawal Ishwar Prasad Namboodri leaving the Dham on July 14 due to family problems and ill health, Amarnath Namboodri will be the new rawal of the revered shrine. With this, a search for a suitable person for the post of naib rawal is also being done in South India in tune with the long-continuing tradition of selecting the rawal and naib rawal from the Namboodri clan in Kerala.
Former religious officer of Badrinath Dham Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal said that the rituals done as prelude to new Rawal’s anointment are being conducted now.
