PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
Following the demolition of the illegal ‘Mazar’ by the district administration, the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital administration has planned the development of an ambulance parking area and a Rain Basera at the site. It is pertinent to mention that the illegal structure, which was recently demolished, was situated on the hospital campus and occupied a significant portion of Uttarakhand’s largest and busiest government hospital.
The chief medical superintendent of the hospital Dr RS Bisht informed that the administration has decided to build an ambulance parking facility along with a multi-storey Rain Basera for attendees at the hospital. He said that the hospital lacks a designated parking area for ambulances, which has creates difficulties. The construction of this parking area aims to address that issue.
Dr Bisht said that an ambulance parking facility will be constructed in the basement, capable of accommodating three to four ambulances simultaneously. Additionally, a multi-storey Rain Basera for attendees will come up in the same area. It has been decided that the shelter will be free of charge. A decision will be taken on the charges if the facility is upgraded in the future. He said that the commencement of construction for these facilities will take some time, as financial clearance proposals and other necessary documents must be submitted to the principal of the GDMC before proceeding.
It will be recalled that over time, the GDMC hospital administration has been working to strengthen the services and facilities at the hospital. Earlier, Dr Bisht informed that the administration is planning to increase the number of ICU beds, along with expanding the dialysis service from one shift to two shifts.
