Amit Shah to launch MBBS in Hindi on Nov 10

In latest news from Dehradun, the Union home minister Amit Shah is all set to launch MBBS course in Hindi in Uttarakhand on November 10. It is learnt that currently the students of the State’s four medical colleges will be provided with Hindi study material from medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh (MP) which introduced the Hindi course material in October 2022. Notably, the Uttarakhand government constituted first a four-member committee and later a two-member committee tasked to devise ways of launching MBBS studies in Hindi on the lines of the same being conducted in MP. The four members of the first committee-Dr C M S Rawat, Dr Daulat Singh, Dr A K Singh and Dr H S Pandey- visited MP. But at that time, Hindi study material on MBBS was not available there. Then, as the Hindi books became available, the vice chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University Dr Hem Chandra Pandey and the head of the Oncology department at the Government Doon Medical College went to MP and talked to the students who were pursuing MBBS in Hindi and also their teachers and they incorporated the experiences they had in MP in the report they sent to the State government. It is further learnt that the MMBS students of Uttarakhand opting for Hindi would read books to be sent from MP for a year and then a Hindi cell would formed comprising publishers and specialists on the subject. The students will have the freedom to write the papers either in English or Hindi. Besides, teachers who would teach MBBS in Hindi would be trained. The students studying MBBS in English and Hindi would study together in the same classes. Notably, 60 per cent of the MBBS students come from English medium background while the rest 40 per cent, from Hindi medium background.
