Anaesthesiology conference starts at SGRR medical college

A two-day state level conference of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiology titled ‘Enhancing peri-operative outcome and patient safety’ started at SGRR Medical College on Saturday. The conference is being organised under joint aegis of the Uttarakhand chapter of Indian Society of Anaesthesiology,  Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. 

More than 200 anaesthesia specialist doctors and subject exponents  from Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are participating in the conference.

 In the programme  the former Medical Superintendent (MS) of Mahant Indiresh hospital, Dr Vinay Rai, was awarded with lifetime achievement award in recognition of his significant contribution in the discipline of anaesthesia.

     The conference was jointly inaugurated by the vice chancellor of HNB Medical University Dr Hem Chandra Pandy, SGRR University VC US Rawat, former president of Indian Society of Anaesthesiology, Dr Deepak Malviya, and Robina Makker, the organising chairperson of the conference. 

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Dr Hem Chandra Pandey said that in general the role of surgeon is considered as significant in any surgery, but the fact is that the anesthetist also plays a crucial role in any surgery. “The anesthesia specialist doctors create a favorable, pain free atmosphere for the surgeon to carry out the surgery. Even the imagination of surgery is impossible without anaesthesia,’’ he said. 

VC of SGRR university Dr Rawat said that the role of anaesthesiologist is the most crucial to counter any complications that might arise before, during or after the operation. 

He said that this conference is a unique platform for the researchers and young anaesthesiologists to understand the significant factors for their success in their careers as anaesthesiologists.

Senior anaesthesiologist, Dr Viany Rai gave a lecture on the topic ‘Perioperative management of Diabetic patients’. He explained in detail about the precautions to be observed by diabetic patients before, during and after the operations. He also shared medical management tips for countering any such situation by these patients.
