The Uttarakhand Congress has claimed that after the Covid pandemic and the natural disasters the State is suffering from bureaucratic disaster. Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress on Thursday, the chief spokesperson of the State Congress Garima Dasauni said that it appears as if the officers of the State administration have no knowledge of their rights and duties.
She said that recently two officers have blatantly misused their power and undermined the position they are holding. She said that the district Panchayati Raj officer (DPRO) of Almora has issued a letter in which he is directing his juniors the information about the Meri Maati Mera Desh programme should be provided to the district president of the ruling party. She said that the DPRO should clarify as to why he has directed that the report of a government programme be provided to the president of district BJP. She said that another such incident has happened in Haridwar district. Here the joint magistrate of Roorkee issued a letter regarding the proposed visit of cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj and the copies of the letter were also marked to the office bearers of district BJP and its frontal organisations.
She said that the ministers and the officers are responsible towards the people and not to some specific party.
Dasauni said that both these cases show that the anarchy is creeping into the State bureaucracy as the government officers are acting as personal assistants of political leaders. She said that the actions of both the officers are a violation of code of conduct and service rules. The Congress leader demanded that the chief secretary should take cognisance of the cases and take punitive action against the officers concerned.
