A vigilance team caught an Anganwadi supervisor red-handed while taking a bribe in Roorkee on Wednesday. The accused, Rakhi Saini, was arrested for taking Rs 50,000 from an Anganwadi assistant in exchange for helping her get a promotion.
Notably, the vigilance team from Dehradun conducted a raid at the child development officer’s office in Roorkee. The action was taken after the assistant had filed a complaint, saying that the supervisor had demanded money for promotion. After confirming the complaint, the team had drawn up a plan and laid a trap.
On Wednesday, when the assistant handed over the money, the vigilance team caught the supervisor on the spot. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal action is being taken.
