Anganwadi workers to gherao Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain
Accusing the Uttarakhand government of failing to fulfill the promise made to the Anganwadi workers last year after their 60 day protest, the State Anganwadi Workers Association has decided to gherao Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain on March 4.
The association took this decision on the state level meeting of the Anganwadi workers on Sunday in Dehradun which was attended by the workers from various districts of Uttarakhand. President of the association, Rekha Negi asserted that the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had assured them last year that the government would increase the allowances of the Anganwadi workers. He also promised us to make a committee through which we would be able to present our issues before the administration but nobody has approached us so year. She further added that the Anganwadi workers are already underpaid and yet, the allowances of several workers are still pending in several districts.
Negi said that the association recently sent a letter to the CM stating all the issues and if the government will not resolve them soon as promised, more than 40,000 Anganwadi workers would gherao Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain on March 4.
