The municipal employees along with sanitation workers continued their indefinite strike on Wednesday even as chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered an inquiry in the case in which the Salt MLA Mahesh Jeena misbehaved with Dehradun municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar and staff on Tuesday. The employees also filed a written complaint against the MLA and others in the SSP office on Wednesday. They asked the police to register an FIR against the accused. They claimed that they will not resume work until the officials concerned assured them that strict action will be taken against Jeena. “We heard that CM has ordered an inquiry under the supervision of Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey but no one from the government has approached us so far to address our issues. We will continue the strike until the government acknowledges this issue and takes strict action against Jeena,” the member of the Nagar Nikay Karamchari Mahasangh (NNKM) Nam Bahadur said. Several people who visited the MCD premises for works related to property tax submission and birth and death certificates also returned empty- handed due to locked offices. Sanitation facilities including door to door garbage collection also remained affected across the city. It is pertinent to mention here that Jeena allegedly misbehaved with the commissioner and staff members on Tuesday afternoon. According to the municipal officials, Jeena’s son had applied for the tender floated to dispose of legacy waste in Sahastradhara located trenching ground but his application was rejected in the technical bid rounds. They claimed that the MLA was furious over this and first barged into the assistant municipal commissioner’s office and misbehaved with him and other staff members. He then went to the commissioner’s office and used abusive language to delist his son’s name from the tender, the officials claimed.
