The Congress workers held a protest at the office of district magistrate of Dehradun against no action taken on the purported VIP who has been accused of involvement in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. The workers led by the Mahanagar president Jaswinder Gogi also submitted a memorandum directed to the governor of the State to the DM. Speaking on the occasion, Gogi said that the government is making an effort to shield the culprits in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. He said that the parents of Ankita have alleged that the general secretary (Organisation) of State BJP, Ajaey Kumar is the VIP involved in the case but the police have not brought him in the ambit of investigation. The Congress leader said that similarly no action has been taken against the Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht and the SDM Pramod Kumar who were responsible for using JCB for demolition of the resort where the victim worked. He said that the main accused and his relatives are BJP leaders and the VIP involved in the case is a senior leader of RSS and BJP and in such a situation the Dhami government has no moral courage to get the case investigated by a sitting judge of the High Court.
The vice president of State Congress, Puran Singh Rawat said that the BJP uses religious sentiments of the people for coming to the power and always rakes up communal issues whenever the elections are near. He said that the people have now understood the real design of the BJP. General Secretary Manish Nagpal, president of Mahanagar Mahila Congress Urmila Thapa and others attended the protest.
