Anti encroachment drive: Railway authorities put pillars outside cricketer Pant’s house

In a bold move the railway authorities placed pillars on its land outside the residence of star cricketer Rishabh Pant in Roorkee on Thursday. The pillars were placed to demarcate the Railway land outside the Dhandera railway station. On Thursday a team of officials of Railways and Police arrived at Ashok Nagar of Dhandhera and placed cement pillars on its land. During this, the team also erected pillars just outside the gate of the cricketer Rishabh Pant and others.
In the southern part of Dhandera railway station, valuable land of railways is situated. Encroachment is being done by some locals here and the land is being used as for parking vehicles and as a passage. Cow dung and garbage are also being dumped on this land by some people. Some people have opened their gates on this land.
On Thursday, Railway Protection Force, Civil Line Kotwali Police, under the leadership of Senior Section Engineer of the Railways reached the spot, after which the process of putting up demarcation pillars got started. Some people tried to protest but the team completed its task. The team put more than half a dozen pillars at the door of Rishabh Pant’s house and also outside a school. Railway officials warned that if anyone tried to remove the pillar and encroach on the railway land, strict action would be taken against them.
Senior Section Engineer of Railways Brajmohan Singh said that the railway land was encroached upon by some people and notices were issued to them many times in the past but the encroachers paid no heed to them.
